UK Status Resident. Local S,E,(WC,N). Montgomeryshire Status First recorded in 2013 at Guilsfield in the north-east of the county. This is a very local species throughout north Wales. Wingspan : M & F, 43-60mm. Confusion species Yellow-tail. |

  Habitat Poplar plantations and willow beds. Also hedgerows, woodland, scrub and gardens. Foodplant Aspen, poplars, willows and sallows. Lifestage data Overwinters communally as small larvae in silk web on foodplant. Larva late August - late June. Pupates in a hairy cocoon. |
