A fairly uncommon species, but it has been recorded from much of the county.

Wingspan :  M & F, 34-40mm.

Figure of Eighty and Poplar Lutestring.


Flight time (Montgomeryshire)

Habitat

Most areas where foodplant is found.

Foodplant

Blackthorn, hawthorn, crab apple, fruit trees and wild roses.

Lifestage data

Overwinters as egg (laid in small batches on twigs of foodplant). Larva late Apr-mid July. Pupates in cocoon formed in leaf litter or just under soil.
