UK Status Resident. Common Montgomeryshire Status A fairly uncommon species, but it has been recorded from much of the county except the central area. Wingspan : M & F, 35-42mm. Confusion species Alder Kitten and Poplar Kitten. |

  Habitat Open woodland and scrub, also found in gardens, parkland, moorland and heathland. Foodplant Poplars, willows and aspen. Lifestage data Overwinters as a pupa which is spun in a very hard cocoon that is attached to the bark. Larva June-mid July & August-September. |
