Montgomeryshire Status

A 'Nationally Scarce B' species. A rare and very local species that's only been recorded twice in the county. It hasn't been recorded since 1970 (only limited recorder information available). Probably extinct.

Wingspan :  M & F, 46-52mm.

Narrow-bordered Bee Hawk-moth and Humming-bird Hawk-moth.

Habitat

Rides and clearings in woodland and heathland..

Foodplant

Mainly wild honeysuckle, but also cultivated honeysuckle and snowberry.

Lifestage data

Overwinters as a pupa just below the soil. Larva late June-August.
