A fairly common but local species, its stronghold is in the north-west of the county.

Wingspan :  M & F, 22-34mm.

Confusion species

Latticed Heath.


Flight time (Montgomeryshire)

Habitat

Mostly heathland and moorland, but also found in meadows, grassland and woodland rides.

Foodplant

Heather, clovers, vetches and trefoils.

Lifestage data

Overwinters as a pupa in a slight cocoon on or just in the soil. Larva mid June-mid September.
