Wingspan :  M & F, 19-22mm.

Confusion species

Brindled Pug, Dwarf Pug and Juniper Pug.
Flight time (Montgomeryshire)

Habitat

Established woodland, hedgerows and scrub.

Foodplant

Mainly the calyx of berries, also found on hawthorn and pedunculate oak.

Lifestage data

Overwinters as a pupa in moss or bark on the foodplant or in loose soil. Larva late June-early August.
