Fairly common. A well distributed species, but apart from moorland sites where it's more common, always found in low, single numbers.

Wingspan :  M & F, 17-20mm.

Moorland, heathland and occasionally gardens.

Flowers of heather.

Lifestage data

Overwinters as a pupa in a cocoon in loose soil. Larva mid June-late September.
