Montgomeryshire Status

A 'Nationally Scarce B' species. Very uncommon, only found from a single site in the west of the county at Commins Coch, where it is recorded every year, but in very small numbers.

Wingspan :  M & F, 20-24mm.

Confusion species

Pale forms of Wormwood Pug.

Habitat

Woodland rides and clearings.

Foodplant

Flowers of golden rod.

Lifestage data

Overwinters as a pupa in loose cocoon in the soil. Larva late August-mid October.
