A very common and widespread species, found throughout the county in almost every month of the year.

Wingspan :  M & F, 30-36mm.

Confusion species

Grey Pine Carpet and Pine Carpet.


Flight time (Montgomeryshire)

Habitat

Mainly coniferous woodland but also found in smaller numbers wherever the foodplant grows.

Foodplant

Many species of coniferous trees.

Lifestage data

Overwinters as a small larva. Larva autumn-May and late June-July. Pupates on or just under the ground.
