A fairly uncommon species recorded mostly in the western side of the county.

The subspecies scotica is occasionally recorded.

Wingspan :  M & F, 30-38mm.

Habitat

Normally acid heathland and moorland.

Foodplant

Broom, petty whin, dyer's greenwood and the leaves of gorse.

Lifestage data

Overwinters as a larva on the foodplant. Larva August-March. Pupates either on the plant or in the plant debris.
