A widespread and common species.
Wingspan : M & F, 39-44mm.
Light woodland and scrub, also urban habitats.
Larva feed at night, remain on food plant during day when small (on leaf litter when larger). Larva early July-mid Sept. Overwinters as pupa in cocoon either on or just below soil surface.
